Day 5 - What's In My Purse???

This one was SUPER fun to do. Minus the crumbs, gum wrappers and receipts from 1998, I give you, the contents of my purse. :D

1. This is what it would look like if you just dumped my purse out. I don't like things floating around so I tend to keep things in their own little places.

2. Car keys are kept separate from house keys. I've locked myself out of the house too many times when getting my car repaired to not do this.

3. The Great Big Book of Everything!!! Seriously, if it's not worth writing down, it's not in this book. Planner, notes, dates, ideas, lessons, scriptures...all in this book. With a stylish matching pen as well. :D

4. My Bible. Yes I have a regular Bible, and yes I have a few apps on my phone, but this is so I know I always have His Word with me and can get the pleasure of flipping through pages instead of scrolling through screens.

5. This is my beauty bag. Lip glosses, nail care, eye drops, and feminine supplies that I really didn't need to take out of the bag. :P

6. My pen bag. I have just about every writing utensil needed in this bag. Pen, marker, highlighter, pencil...I'm prepared. :D

7. This is my wallet. Pretty self explanatory IMO. :P

8. My whatever bag. Ear buds, phone charger, vapor pen, Q-tips, Zippo lighter, flash drive, pocket knife, gum, and vapor juice. As helter-skelter as this bag is, I dig into it the most.

9. And the things that don't go into a bag, but are necessary IMO. Hospital employee badge and lanyard, tissues, trail mix, and change wallet.

So there you have it. The ever exciting contents of my purse. :D

Day 4 - What Do I Remember???

I am known to having the best memory in the family. If anyone needs to know dates, names, phone numbers, addresses...whatever, they come to me. So when I sat down to recollect my earlier memory it was a struggle. We're told we don't actually remember early childhood memories but the story told by those who witnessed it. I'm sure that's the case many times but this is about MY first memory.
I was about 2 years old and we were living in Alaska at the time. My brother and I were home and my grandparents were visiting. My brother and I were at the top of the landing when we headed down the stairs. I was wearing something for bed having either just woke up or on the way to bed. Miss Independent that I am and always was, I decided to take the trek down the stairs by myself. And down the stairs I went. Rolling. All the way to the bottom.
Come to find out I broke my leg. It wasn't detrimental. A little green stick snap, which healed nicely and I was happy as a lark. The details are sketchy but rolling down the stairs is definitely my first memory.
There are many out there I'd love to share with you...another time, perhaps. ;)

Day 3 - Sweet Titanium

Day 3 - Sweet Titanium

Today is the day I'm supposed to explain Sweet Titanium to my captivated readers. Today I'm supposed to search my soul and bare it all to explain why two words that mean nothing separate can mean the world when put together.
First let's address what a conundrum the two words are. When we think of sweet we think of cotton candy, soda, lollipops, gumdrops and a succulent cheesecake drizzled in strawberries. Titanium is cold, hard, metal, ungiving, strong, powerful. The words have no association together, until you add me to the mix.
In essence I too am a conundrum. I am sweet to those I love, know and hold dear. I am strong when they need me and I can be there for them. I am a prissy woman who adores the colour pink, fluffy bunnies, football and beer. I squeal and giggle until someone messes with my boys then I am a savage mother bear protecting her cubs. I declare my independence to the world while longing for someone to lean on occasionally. I want to convey my strength for what it is, and not as a bully or bulldozer. To show grace and kindess when the world thinks I should shun and turn away.
Because I am all of these facets all rolled into one, I felt I needed something that reflected the best of both worlds. My strength and my heart.
So yes...

I Am Sweet Titanium.

Day 2 - 20 Things About Me

For Day 2, I'm supposed to share 20 things about myself. This is no particular order and I realized I'm pretty weird. Hahaha! Enjoy getting to know me. :P

1. My favourite sodas are Strawberry Sunkist, Cherry Coke, and Cranberry Ginger Ale.
2. I can type over 100 WPM on a normal QWERTY keyboard.
3. I love 80's music.
4. I'm a Star Wars, Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Lord of the Rings, and Disney kind of nerd. Okay, I'm not kind of a nerd. I AM a nerd. And love every geeky moment of it. :P
5. My favourite person in the Bible is Esther/Hadassah and my favourite book is James.
6. I’m a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan.
7. My favourite colour is pink. Preferably on the fucshia side.
8. My dream date is to watch the Dallas Cowboys slaughter either the Giants or Redskins while noshing on beer and hot dogs.
9. I prefer fantasy and sci-fi books and movies.
10. My favourite song is "At This Moment (What Did You Think)” by Billy Vera and the Beaters. During my first year of softball, our very cute assistant coach sang it at a talent show and I've loved it ever since.
11. I have an unhealthy obsession with office supplies and Tervis cups. I would probably swoon more over a stationery set than a diamond necklace. And a Tervis cup full of markers and pens would bring me to tears.
12. I was adopted at 6 weeks old. I never met my birth mother or her family. I have an inkling of who she is and hope to one day meet them all.
13. I learned how to drive a standard transmission in down town Littleton Colorado on the freeway. Talk about a crash course!
14. I was baptized twice. Once in Hawaii by my brother and then again by my pastor in Illinois.
15. I don't like my food touching. If it touches, I probably won't eat it. Drives my family nuts around the holidays. :D
16. I hate short hair. I've cut a total of 30 inches off to donate and will never do it again.
17. I was in a commercial when I was like 7 or 8 for the Girl Scouts. I'm sure there's a copy of it floating around somewhere.
18. I love being part of a large extended family and wish we could see each other more often.
19. I always wanted to live in Colorado. Next choices after that are Napa Valley, Wyoming and Seattle.
20. Tom Hiddleston is the only man I would leave my future/non existent husband for.

This was a LOT harder than I thought it would be. :D

Day 1: Introduction

Hi! I'm Katy and welcome to my blog. :)

I'm trying a "30 Days: 30 Blog" series so we'll see how it goes. :P Today being day one is introduction day. :)

I started a different blog when I thought I had all kinds of fun and interesting things to share about life with two boys. Alas, it was fun and it was interesting but I noticed I was doing a lot of soul searching and finding teachable moments in my own life. So this one is for me. My thoughts, my dreams, my wishes, my triumphs and my defeats.

As of today, I am 36 and the single mother of two boys, Quinton 18 and Jordan 15. I've worked at a local hospital for the last ten years and absolutely love it. I hope to one day finish my psychology degree so I can work with Wounded Warrior Project or some affiliate and help those suffering from war related PTSD.

I am also the proud mother of two adorable bunnies, Scotty and Shiloh. Sherlock blessed us for a brief moment in time and then binkyed his way over the rainbow bridge to Jesus. We will forever love and hold him in our hearts until we see him again.

I'm not sure what I'm going to focus my entries on. This may just end up being a soundboard for my rapidly flowing thoughts and crazed musings I conjure up in the wee hours of the night.

Regardless I hope you as the reader learn as much from me as I learn from writing.
